‘It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.’ Psalm 18:32 NKJV
25 July 2018. That is the date printed on my husband Michael’s security licence. What is this date? Insignificant it would seem.
Let me take you back to a typically British rainy day in July 2017. I’d just gotten into my car in a non-descript carpark in the UK, when my mobile phone rang. It was my big sister Rose, phoning from New Jersey. ‘Hi sis. How you doing?’ ‘I’m doing good sis,’ she said. ‘Look, I’m on my way to a 9am meeting, but I just had to call you!’
The conversation we had that day would transform not just our lives, but the lives of people around us, including Michael.
Fast forward 12 months, and Rose is standing in the Caribbean Sea witnessing Michael and I being prayed over and baptised by Pastor Deborah, Rev. Dr. Inga and Elder Rhonda.
The date? 25 July 2018.
Whenever I see that date on my husband’s licence, it serves as a reminder of God’s supreme grace and mercy. For true, only God knows the journey Michael and I had taken over the last 10 years to reach to that day. And, only God knows what more He has in store for us.
What were we doing in Antigua with all these amazing people of God? Attending and celebrating the launch of Destiny Interrupted? It is difficult to define what this three day event on the beautiful island of Antigua was designed for, or planned to achieve, but it wasn’t our job to define it. It was God’s. The only requirement of us was to be obedient and show up. The rest was up to the Almighty!
As our bodies were immersed in the warm crystal clear waters that beautiful morning, God was signalling to us, and to our family and friends witnessing our baptism that day, that He was working on making our way perfect.
A few days after we returned home to the UK, Michael started his new job, in a new profession, after many years working in retail. He had worked in this sector since he was a teenager and now he was venturing into the unknown. I had not long started a new job myself, with an international bank back in my home city (praise God!), having worked in the City of London for around nine years - most of our married life. Our head offices are now right next door to one another.
Sometimes when Michael phones me at work we can actually look at each other through the windows of our respective buildings while we’re talking! Silly I know, but I love it.
In March this year, Michael was awarded ‘Employee of the Month’ after receiving a personal visit from the CEO of the entire U.K. company he works for. She had heard so many good reports about him that she wanted to meet him personally. When Government ministers and VIPs are visiting, Michael is asked for specifically, by clients, to host them. So proud of what he has achieved in such a short time.
God has brought into our lives people and circumstances for which I am confident, in His time, He will reveal the reason and purpose. In the meantime - we wait. And pray.
We take nothing for granted, or even assume that tomorrow will be ours to see out. But with every event, or ‘shift’, since that day, God has been at work in everything. “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.” That was one of our most widely spread tweets in 2012. When I read that, it blew my mind. Not only may you see only a tiny fraction of what God is doing in your life; the part you do see may make no sense to you.
It may not be for us personally, but I’m confident that God has blessings and new beginnings in store for someone, somewhere, who just doesn’t know it yet.
I give God thanks to, and for, Minister Rose, for her vision and for sharing it with us. I’m so excited for what God has in store for DI 2020. I look forward to being part of the team and pray that God will use me and anyone else He stirs to get involved, to experience a powerful move of the Holy Spirit to transform lives and shift us from a Destiny Interrupted to a Destiny Fulfilled.
Amen.

Wisdom: God’s infinite wisdom always sees a way to bring the greatest good out of the most painful and complex situations. “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements and how inscrutable his ways!” (Romans 11:33).
Therefore, no matter what you face this year, God will be doing 10,000 things in your life that you cannot see. Trust him. Love him. And they will all be good for you.

When Minister Rose asked me to be a part of Destiny Interrupted? I agreed because I loved her, despite the fact that I found myself in a crisis. I was in heart failure, not physically, but spiritually. I had not guarded my heart carefully and past hurts had caused this heart of mine to fail. Even though I had plenty of people around me and I kept a smile on my face, I had isolated, and insulated myself from others. It was in my prayer closet that I God revealed to me that my heart was failing, and he gave the message “Heart of the Matter,” and as I prayed, and studied about the heart, He began to do surgery on my heart. He showed me…me!
Basically, this heart condition had stopped me in my tracks and my destiny had truly been interrupted. But God designed it that Destiny Interrupted? was a part of my healing process. In the process I began to trust again, and I became less guarded and more vulnerable to those around me. I found a tribe of women that help to mend my heart, and propel me to my next level in God. I am no longer interrupted, and now I can see my way.
Since Destiny Interrupted? “Antigua” I have established enriched friendships, workshop series for “Women in Ministry in the 21stCentury, and my counseling business “Inga A. Brockington Counseling and Consulting Services” has taken off. I thank God for the experiences that took place in Antigua, and I am also so thankful for my sister-friend Minister Rose the visionary of Destiny Interrupted?
